“The Cabins at Rock Creek offer more than 6 miles of Rock Creek access to the best blue ribbon fly fishing for West slope Cutthroat, Rainbow, Bull, Brook, Cut-Bow and Brown trout in an unspoiled location.”

Rock Creek is high in fertility, allowing for extensive hatches and moderate in width throughout the entire length. Therefore, the creek allows for relatively easy crossings by wade anglers with the ability to cast to all points of the creek. Float fishing is only allowed until July 1st, however, for those wanting to float, The Cabins offer a multitude of private put ins and take outs.

These excellent characteristics make The Cabins at Rock Creek Montana’s best fly fishing destination spot for anglers who float before July and wade fish virtually year round!

For our guests that want to take additional day trips, The Cabins at Rock Creek are located close to many other highly sought after fishing destinations, including the Big Hole River to the south, the Clark Fork River to the north, the Bitterroot River to the west and further up north, the mighty Blackfoot River. We work with outfitters throughout these areas, offering a variety of guided trips. Those looking to escape to the perfect secret fishing spot to those looking to mix it up a bit, The Cabins at Rock Creek is the best “off the beaten path” getaway.

Welcome to The

Cabins at Rock Creek...

Rock Creek is an official Montana blue ribbon fishery, with reported 2000 fish per mile.  Visiting Rock Creek is a must; a stay on the creek is a fabulous experience!  You can enjoy year-round fishing of rainbows, browns, brooks, and cutthroats.

Certain hatches will give you some of the most furious action.  Early April is the start of the hatches, you will have skwala and the March brown.  Next is the baetis and caddis hatches, and then there’s the spectacular salmonfly hatch in June and July.  The myriad hatches happen throughout the summer and fall.

The run of spawning brown trout in the fall make for some awesome fishing!  Chances of hooking a big fish are great at this time.  Rock Creek is great for wade fishing all year, except for when the water’s high for spring runoff.  Rock Creek Road (Forest Road 102) follows the creek all the way, but the middle of the road is pretty rough and bumpy.

Floating the creek is very popular until July, that’s when the creek is closed to fishing from a boat until Nov 30th.   There are a few places to launch your boat if you wish to float.

There’s a three-brown trout daily and in-possession limit, with none over 12 inches.  Rock Creek is catch-and-release only for rainbow and cutthroat trout.  Only artificial flies and lures are allowed, unless you’re 14 years old or younger, then bait can be used during the general season.
